Memsum Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Memsum (the "Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

1. The Service

Memsum is a mobile application (iOS and Android) that organizes your screenshots. It provides:

• Automatic screenshot detection and import (you can turn this on or off in settings)
• Text extraction from images (OCR), AI-generated titles and summaries, and event extraction (title, date/time, location)
• Adding extracted events to your Google Calendar, only if you enable the integration
• A weekly report generated once a week, with a notification

Specific features may change for operational or technical reasons. Material changes will be announced through the app or our notice page.

2. Accounts — Anonymous Authentication and Data Access

• The Service operates with anonymous authentication; there is no sign-up. Your data is tied to an anonymous identifier issued to your device.
• Important: Because accounts are anonymous, if you delete the app or change/reset your device, you will not be able to access your previous data. The Service does not provide account recovery (no email or password). (Account linking/backup features may be offered in the future.)
• You can permanently delete your server-stored data at any time via Settings → Data → "Delete my data".

3. Your Content and Rights

• You retain all rights to the screenshots you import into the Service and the text derived from them ("User Content").
• You grant the Service a limited, non-exclusive license to process User Content solely as needed to provide the Service (storage, processing, text extraction, summarization, and report generation). This license ends when the content is deleted.
• The Service does not use User Content for advertising and does not sell it to third parties. Personal data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy.

4. Your Responsibilities

You must not:

• Import content that infringes the rights of others (copyright, likeness, personal data, etc.)
• Interfere with the normal operation of the Service (abnormal bulk requests, exploiting vulnerabilities, unauthorized use through reverse engineering, etc.)
• Violate applicable laws or these Terms

You are responsible for any disputes arising from content you import that infringes the rights of others.

5. AI Processing Notice

• Titles, summaries, event extraction, and weekly reports are generated by artificial intelligence (large language models). By their nature, accuracy and completeness are not guaranteed — dates, times, and locations may be extracted incorrectly.
• We recommend verifying important event details against the original before relying on them (e.g., calendar entries). For damages caused by AI output errors (such as scheduling mistakes), the Service is liable only within the scope of Section 12.

6. Third-Party Integrations

• Google Calendar integration is an optional feature you enable yourself; Google's terms and policies also apply.
• The Service is not responsible for limitations caused by outages or policy changes of third-party services (Google, OpenAI, infrastructure providers), but will make reasonable efforts to provide alternatives.

7. Fees

• The Service is currently provided free of charge.
• If paid features (such as subscriptions) are introduced, prices and conditions will be clearly disclosed and your consent obtained before any charge. Payments and refunds follow Apple App Store / Google Play policies.

8. Changes to or Discontinuation of the Service

• The Service may change or discontinue all or part of its features for operational or technical reasons.
• If the Service is shut down entirely, we will provide notice at least 30 days in advance through the app or our notice page, and make reasonable efforts to give you time to export or clean up your data.

9. Intellectual Property

Intellectual property rights in the Service itself (the app, logo, design, and software) belong to the operator. Rights to User Content are governed by Section 3.

10. Suspension of Use

If you materially violate these Terms or applicable law, the Service may restrict your use after prior notice (or subsequent notice in urgent cases).

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, the Service disclaims all express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

12. Limitation of Liability

• To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential damages (such as opportunity costs from data loss or damages from scheduling errors).
• However, liability for damages caused by the Service's willful misconduct or gross negligence, and any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, is not limited.

13. Changes to These Terms

If these Terms change, we will provide notice through the app or our notice page before the effective date — at least 7 days in advance for material changes, and 30 days for changes unfavorable to users. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes between the Service and users shall be brought before the courts with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act. If you are a consumer, your rights under consumer protection laws are not limited by this clause.
